Holly Hunter is an American producer and actress who has been recognized by her highly commendable performances in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. She won several awards like an Oscar for her role in the film Piano. She began her career as an actress on Broadway and Off Broadway. She is a lover of acting from the time she was in school. Her first role in a show in the fifth grade was Helen Keller. The mumps that she contracted left her blind and deaf in one ear. But she did not allow this hinder her progress as an actress. As a teenager She studied acting and eventually moved to New York City. Hunter had her Broadway debut following a chance meeting with Beth Henley, a playwright. Together, they wrote in Broadway Crimes of the Heart. When she moved to Los Angeles she tried to obtain film roles and was offered an acting role as a support for the role of a supporting character in Swing Shift. In the years since, she has been in a variety of TV movies and series in a long career that spans more than three decades. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
